YU YUNIQUE with 4.5-inch display 4G LTE launched for Rs. 4,999

YU was founded in December 2014 as a joint venture between India's largest mobile manufacturer, Micromax and Cyanogen Inc, to offer affordable devices to the Indian market. So far, YU has released three phones this year, YUREKA, YUPHORIA and YUREKA Plus along with smartwatch and health device and recently started teasing their fourth smartphone.

As expected YU has launched the YU YUNIQUE, their latest 4G LTE enabled smartphone. Unlike other YU phones, the YUNIQUE doesn’t run on Cyanogen OS out of the box, but runs stock Android 5.1 Lollipop. However, you can upgrade to Cyanogen OS 12.1 based on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) by heading to YU service centres for free.

YU YUNIQUE features a compact 4.7-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS Fully Laminated display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. Inside there is an 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 64-bit processor further aided by Adreno 306 GPU and 1GB RAM. On-board storage is 8GB, further expandable up to 32GB via microSD card.

Besides 4G LTE, the dual-SIM device supports 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. It is fueled by 2000mAh battery. YU YUNIQUE with 4.5-inch display 4G LTE launched for Rs. 4,999
YU YUNIQUE is priced at Rs. 4,999 and will be exclusively available via flash sale on Snapdeal starting September 15, for which registrations are already open. You can also buy it bundled with two extra different-colored back covers for Rs. 5,499. Additionally, it comes bundled with double data offer for Airtel subscribers.

YU YUNIQUE  joins the league of the most affordable 4G phones in the country and will compete with ZTE Blade Qlux 4G, Phicomm Energy 653 which are also priced 4,999 and Lenovo's A2010, which costs 4,990.

Commenting on the launch, Rahul Sharma, Founder, YU Televentures, said, "India is at the tipping point of digital revolution and we expect 4G technology to push Internet usage to an unprecedented level. Consumer demand is constantly shifting towards devices offering multi-tasking capabilities, 24x7 data connectivity with increased video consumption and real-time mobility solutions. However to boost adoption, 3 key things including price, product and reach are important. I feel that with Yunique being available at 4,999 through a partner like Snapdeal that has the farthest reach, we have a compelling preposition to delight the consumer."
