Nikon D5500 with Touchscreen Launched in India, Available on Flipkart
Nikon has launched their latest DSLR in their D5 series, Nikon D5500 in India and is currently selling for a price of Rs 58,150 on Flipkart. Nikon D5500 is the first DSLR Camera from Nikon to have a Touchscreen which attracts a lot of first time potential buyers who are used to pinch zooming, touch focusing etc on their smartphones. Looking at the other important specs, D5500 has a 24.2MP sensor, Expeed 4 Processor and supports upto 5FPS.
Nikon D5500 vs Nikon D3300
Nikon D5500 borrows the same APS-C DX format sensor from it's predecessor D5300. It also has the same Expeed 4 processor seen inside D5300. Like it's predecessor, D5500 also does not come with an optical low pass filter, resulting in better sharpness in images and videos. One other thing these have in common is the 39 point auto focus system which Nikon says is now improved when recording videos. Both supports 5FPS continuous shooting which when compared to Mirrorless cameras at this price range like Sony A6000, is not awesome.
D5500 is lighter and slightly smaller than D5300. Touchscreen on the newer model helps Prosumers to adjust settings easily and makes overall shooting experience more enjoyable. In the video department the newer D5500 has a Flat Profile option for those who do a lot of post processing. Nikon also boasts 820 shots from a single charge, while D5300 only offered 600 shots.
