LG's new SmartThinQ Sensor monitors home appliances
LG's new gadget, SmartThinQ Sensor works with traditional home appliances and helps you monitor day to day home appliances and let you control them.
SmartThinQ Sensor is a circular device and can be attached to existing home appliances such as washing machine or refregirator, to sense feedback such as vibration and temperature.
For instance, attaching the sensor to a washing machine door transforms its into a smart appliance and you will be informed when the washing is done. When attached to refrigerator SmartThinQ sensor will send a notification to a paired smartphone when a particular food is about to expire. It can also be connected to an air conditioner or other appliances which allows users to take control remotely via SmartThinQ app. The sensor also keeps track of how many time you opened the door even when you're not at home.
LG also introduced an AllJoyn compatible Smart Lightwave oven and Smart Air Conditioner. AllJoyn is a collaborative open-source software framework that makes it easy for devices and apps to discover and communicate with each other.
The Smart Lightwave Oven from LG is WiFi enabled and users can download, update and share recipes with friends via their mobile devices. It can even perform self-diagnosis and help find solutions and repair information online via LG's service center. While the Smart Air Conditioner can be controlled via smartphone and will inform owners when to replace the air filter.
The gadgets will be showcased at IFA event in Berlin next week.
