Samsung Gear S2 circular Tizen-based smartwatch gets official
Samsung has unveiled its latest range of Gear S2 smartwatches, Gear S2, Gear S2 3G and Gear S2 Classic. The Gear S2 and Gear S2 3G models comes with silicone band offering a minimal and modern design while the Gear S2 Classic features a more premium black finish and a matching genuine leather strap.

All three run on comapany's home grown Tizen based wearable platform and sports a circular display with rotating bezels that allows users to scroll, zoom, etc. They also have home and back buttons to access apps and notifications. 

Samsung's Gear S2 sports a 1.2-inch circular Super AMOLED display with 360 x 360 pixel resolution (~302ppi) and is powered by 1GHz dual-core processor with 512MB RAM and 4GB storage. They are IP68 certified for dust and water resistant. They connect with compatible devices via Bluetooth 4.1 LE, and offer NFC support for mobile payments. It also features an accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate sensor, ambient light sensor, and barometer. It is powered by a 250mAh battery that supports wireless charging and is IP68 cerified for dust and water resistant.

The Gear S2 3G has built-in e-SIM support that lets you independently make and receive calls, without connecting to a device and also offers 3G support. It is backed by  300mAh Li-ion battery (Gear S2 3G) that also supports wireless charging. Rest of the specs are same as standard model.

Samsung promises two to three days of battery life for the Gear S2, compared with Apple Watch's 18 hours.

The Gear S2 has dimensions of 42.3x49.8x11.4mm, weighs 47 grams and comes in Dark Grey case w/ Dark Grey band and Silver case w/ White band. The Gear S2 Classic has dimensions of 39.9x43.6x11.4mm, weighs 42 grams and comes in Black case w/ Leather band.
