Android Wear smartwatches now works with iPhones

Android Wear smartwatches now works with iPhones
Google has announced Android Wear support for iOS. The search giant has launched Android Wear companion app, so that Android Wear smartwatches will work with Apple's iPhones. They will now work with iPhone 5 or later devices, running iOS 8.2 or later.

Once paired with your iPhone, Android Wear smartwatches can display alerts for calls, messages and notification. It also syncs your fitness data, but currently there is no support for third party apps and integrates only with Google apps like Google search, Calendar and Gmail. You can also use 'Ok Google' voice commands to set Google Now reminders, open the weather app and more.

Users will only be able to view incoming messages, but will not be able to reply from the watch face. Calls can be answered or ignored, but users will still need to use their iPhones to talk.

Highlights of Android Wear for iOS
  • Get your info at a glance: Check important info like phone calls, messages, and notifications from your favorite apps. Android Wear features always-on displays, so you’ll never have to move your wrist to wake up your watch.
  • Follow your fitness: Set fitness goals, and get daily and weekly views of your progress. Your watch automatically tracks walking and running, and even measures your heart rate.
  • Save time with smart help: Receive timely tips like when to leave for appointments, current traffic info, and flight status. Just say “Ok Google” to ask questions like “Is it going to rain in London tomorrow?” or create to-dos with “Remind me to pack an umbrella.”
Android Wear for iOS currently works with LG Watch Urbane, Moto 360 and upcoming Android Wear watched like Huawei Watch and Asus ZenWatch 2.
